Giant software company, Microsoft is seriously working to make its users choose latest versions of its products. Implementing the same, the company has decided to provide the support only for the latest version for its web browser - Internet Explorer(IE). The support for the older versions will end from 12th January, 2016. End of support means that they will not be getting technical support and security updates.
Latest versions of IE are more secure and reliable against malware and hack attacks. It has been confirmed by many cybersecurity companies that the use of latest IE can improve the protection over internet surfing. Latest IE versions also promises better productivity with its technology based on Mobile-first and Cloud-first philosophy.
Different versions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system are compatible with different versions of browser. Going by the current scenario, the latest versions of IE working on different Windows are:
Internet Explorer 9: Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2
Internet Explorer 10: Windows Server 2012
Internet Explorer 11: Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2
Currently on extended support, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 are certain that they will not get new version of IE. For later versions of Windows, however the company has not specified if it will end the support on arrival of new IE version with immediate effect or with a specified warning period.
However, cybersecurity experts have welcomed the decision of Microsoft to end support for old versions of Internet Explorer. Though the support for older version of IE is valid till 2016, still it is always advised to use latest version, be it operating system or web browser. Installing a latest version of genuine software improves the performance of the PC.
